Testing The Water (With Both Feet) was written circa 2012 for a good mate whose boundless energy and good humoured enthusiasm for opening / running cafes and restaurants Greg admired, whilst also greatly valuing his friendship (if you're out there Ryanno...). A favourite in the live set over the years, although missing out on both the Drought & War and Tenacity album recordings for various reasons, it is considered an appropriate moment to put Testing The Water out into the world as a tribute to those hospitality owners and workers who have been struggling over the past 12 months with lockdowns and limitations.
