Hot Wind 06:19
There’s a hot wind blowing across the fields tonight There’s a hot wind blowing and it don’t feel right It’s gathering pace and it’s bringing dust What will become of us? There’s a hot wind blowing across the fields tonight There’s a storm that’s raging and it’s bearing down There’s a storm that threatens our little town It don’t care what gets in its way What will become of me? There’s a storm that’s raging and it’s bearing down Don’t despair my little child Don’t despair, it’ll be alright We’ll ride it out and see the dawn Don’t fret now, my little one Where we’re heading, we can’t be sure Where we’re bound, we haven’t been before But we’ll find the strength to keep from harm And give us shelter from the storm Where we’re heading, we can’t be sure.

Tenacity 03:59
There's a signpost pointing wrong way round On a fence that leans into the ground There's a day that shines a bright blue sky But it masks the teardrops in the eye And I thank you for Having no faith in me It's a credit to my Tenacity There's a wind that's blowing from the south There's a bird that flies into the mouth Of a storm that's threatening to release A deluge cleansing city streets Fly into the rising storm First take flight and then you soar Wanting less and giving more Lose control and take what’s yours

Emily walks on the tracks on her way to her brother's Is there no going back, do you think of another Do you feel a sudden wind blowing cold in the morning Do you hear a steam whistle sing out a warning Oh, why are you sad, dear Emily, why Did you mean to get trapped, did you mean to die Do you push us away to save from your fate Is the light in the tunnel for you too late Do you think of the train that appears up ahead Do you try to escape, is your heart filled with dread Or are you resigned to a permanent fate Do you stand on the tracks, your death to await Will you push me away if I walk in too far Will you hit at my arms and pull at my hair Do you want for all visits to come to an end So the peace you have sought for so long can descend Upon tunnel tracks which are long since removed Upon your troubled soul to quiet and soothe Will you make for your brother's at the end of the day And reunite with your family, you've too long been away

Home 06:00
Home Seems such long way off Although we’re living on Where we belong Home Was once and ever will be But not the way it should be Not as it was We seem so disconnected From the place where we belong We’re born never asking To find our way home Home A birthright never sought Not something sold or bought When we were born Home Become a road to wealth But what cost to mental health And basic need Home We’re all in the same boat Adrift in a sea of hope That we’ll prevail Home We leave to our children now But what are we leaving out What have we lost

To The Sea 06:52
Same time same place I see your familiar face As we go back and forth Back and forth to the sea Well there's an elephant in the room Wolves at the door White ants in the floor Oh I can't take it anymore People walking back and forth To the sea, to the sea Nothing's as sad as when You spend your life Waiting for something to happen Each to their own beat And in their own time In their own meter And rhythm and rhyme I want to stare at the stars And listen to birds Make my own pace And find my own words Find my own words and make my own plans Dream my own dreams of far-away lands To far-away lands I'll travel and stay I'll stay and I'll live till the end of my days
6.
Holy Water 03:44
I was drowned in holy water I was baptised in a flood I was raised in sacred fire But I fell into the mud I was beat by a righteous demon I was cast upon the ground I was lost in confusion Trying to find my way back home I don’t know where I’m going I’m not sure where I’m bound But I know where I’m standing With holy water all around Holy water all around I was raised by angelic choirs To a place up in the clouds Their song filled my aching heart With a purity of sound
7.
Goodnight, sleep tight Don’t little anything bite For you’ll see a bright day Where you aim for the heights You’ll scale the big mountains And swim the deep sea You’ll shoot for the stars And set yourself free Goodnight Debbie, goodnight You don’t want people To look at you now But I know that’ll change When you first take a bow You’ll make your hands bleed And shave off your hair Then colour it colours That shouldn’t be there You’ll get so determined To make your own way And make it in style Come what may You’ll head to a city That you’ll call your own And gather around you You won’t be alone
8.
I'm goin' down To the gates of hell He’s taken heaven To buy and sell He’s taken life And turned to death The Midas touch Or the Demon’s breath The Demon Fault is deep and wide Cross the muddy river to the demon's side If I go and don't come back I'll be waiting for you on the demon track For forty days And forty nights It'll rain on down With a demon's might A little rain Never hurt no one But it'll wash away What the demon's done But the demon’s wrath Was not torn down It gathers strength For another round You’d best beware Of the price you’ll pay When the demon comes To take your soul away
9.
I’m not into suicide Those that are, most have tried Oblivious to those left behind Captive to their darker side I’m not really self aware Others are, I don’t care I don’t need no self reflection I don’t want to go down there Down there… I don’t want to keep in touch Or read or talk or think too much I like to keep uncomplicated To be honest, I just don’t give a fuck I’m not into suicide But sometimes I feel trapped inside I feel like I can’t keep pretending But I will stare down suicide Suicide…

about

Tenacity continues where Greg’s 2013 album, Drought And War, left off, on a roller coaster journey of struggle and resilience. Of journeys personal and universal, from the search for place and purpose, through the dusty plains and environmental battlefields of his native land. This album weaves from unhurried ambience to furious abandon, through a bed of alt country-folk to swampy blues-rock, dipping occasionally into the psychedelic.
